Let us see what happens when you have a second one to compare with. Then we cal locate the part that is faulty and we'll know where to look better,

Well, let's get the usual questions out of the way first.

1) What version is the clock firmware?

2) What version is the WiFi Module firmware?

3) When you look at the Summary web page, at the bottom of the Current Status section, does it show "Found I2C slave at (ping) 105"? If not, what DOES it say about I2C Slave? Anything?

Look into it later when the dust is clearing off the crater.

Although no solution for Karel:
Same problem here, although I'm 99% sure that it is due to running different versions of software on the clock (v355) and on the ESP (v352).
I reflashed the clock in order to get rid of the decimal point and took the most up-to-date software version from bitbucket. (there is no way to download older FW, isn't it?)
So far, I haven't looked into getting the ESP flashed, mainly because I don't have a programmer for it. It'd be most likely possible to flash it using an Arduino?! I guess I should google a bit for it.....

Phil, you are right: clock and ESP firmware versions must match or all bets are off.

By digging around in the Commits section of the firmware repo you can get almost any old version you need. No guarantees, but I think this is the one you need if you choose to revert your clock to match your ESP.
