Here's a diagram of all the display boards I am currently working on that will be compatible with my driver board

You can read more about it here: cogwheelcircuitworks.com/

Quick question - if I buy the IN17x7 Series 1, can it be upgraded to support the other tubes, BT, etc?

When I release the first display board (B7971x4), I will make the driver board available also; So far it looks like there will be no differences in the boards other than the tubes.

If you are asking if you can buy an IN17x7 Series 1 now and trade up to another kind of clock later, I would probably go on record as saying yes, but only within 30 days of purchase;

Regarding Bluetooth, If someone wants to return a clock and have that added, it could be done for the cost of the BT module plus $40 labor and handling for a total of about $60

Clear as mud. right ? :)

Let me know if I didn't answer your question..

I think I've got it :) I'm really interested in the 7971 version. I didn't know if I would be able to connect another PCB via a ribbon cable or if it would be an entirely different board.

The driver board is the same except for the absence of the IN17s and the presence of the ribbon connector.

I have one driving 8 B7971s right now. Just doing some verification/coding with regard to heat mgmt/power generation; The big tubes suck quite a bit more current
(Still under 7W total, however).

Because of the added power requirements, it will have to be driven with a 24VDC power adapter

I have the 8 tube B7971 enclosure back and it looks pretty nice. Haven't peeled the brown plastic off the acrylic so not ready for pictures yet.

Soon, soon.
