I synchronize mine to msf here in the UK.
DCF unlike MSF has a spare aerial and transmitter so the signal never ceases like MSF, however I never understood why the minute marker is a blank, you have to rely on your crystal osc accuracy, unless I misunderstood the datasheet for DCf which is quite possible.

I think you missunderstod the DCF-signal.
It is BCD-coded.
BIT 21-27 -> Minutes
BIT 29-34 -> Hours
BIT 36-41 -> Day of month
BIT 42-44 -> Day of week
BIT 45-49 -> Month number
BIT 50-57 -> Year within century
Please look at:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DCF77

Hi yes,
I was reffering to the minute marker second zero, MSF tranmitts a longer marker for zero, so you have a reference of the new minute, DCF transmitts a continous carrier from the end of second 59 till the start of second 1, or something likw that.

@ Beast Lee
Thank you for compliment! You should know that English is not my native language and so sometimes I have problems with understanding sayings and phrases. What do you mean with "...dig the single digit clock..."?
Best regards,
Andrew
