I have no experience with the site. I see he's in Lithuania, which would certainly make me think twice since I am not real comfortable about trading with sellers in former Soviet countries.

As for the clock itself, my personal opinion is that I don't like the fact that the display is multiplexed (yeah, I'll piss off a few people saying that!) and I really don't like that there is no battery backup on it. I downloaded the schematic after being unable to spot a battery or super-cap in the photos and it sure looks like it stops keeping time when the mains power goes off.

Look into it later when the dust is clearing off the crater.

Ty,

I think I understand your feelings about multiplexed clocks (one reason I'm working on my own clock, not from a kit, that will not be multiplexed).

Question.. do you know of a kit that isn't multiplexed? I haven't seen one.

Thanks

Jeff Thomas' NixieChron is a direct drive non-multiplexed design. I believe some Nocrotec designs are also direct drive. BUT... I'm not sure if any of these are available in kit form. Jeff Thomas posts here as "Jeff" - maybe he will see this and give you an answer.

I've got a few kits from kosbo.com and they're not multiplexed either.

Yeah, I'm with Ty on the direct drive preference.
And you can also PWM direct drive when dimming is needed.

Direct Drive vs Multiplexing is totally political. ;)

I can say with some authority that the folks who know their stuff have stayed with direct drive.

Sorry, I haven't any clock kits available. After ~13 years I've moved on to other interests.
That being said, I can put together a NixiChron kit from remaining materials, minus the enclosure. The NixiChron was retired in 2011. I grew tired of feeding the Ukrainian Cartel for IN-18's. Only Dieter was enough of a masochist to stay in the game following the 10x price pump.
Email me directly if you're still interested. Google NixiChron for my address.

Regards, Jeff

For fear of getting way off topic,
Jeff - that clock looks really nice. But I noticed it doesn't seem to do a slot machine effect. Does it not need it because of the directdrive??
