Every time someone searches on Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc., and they click on a search result, the search engine sends over a string of text in the HTTP referrer letting me know what that user searched for.

In the last month I have started to see a bunch of searches for "nixie heat" "nixie clock temperature" and "how hot do nixie tubes get?" style queries. This is, as best as I can tell, completely new and now I've seen many searches along these lines.

Does anyone know why people are now searching for this?

And, if you found this post via Google - no, properly engineered nixie clocks shouldn't generate significant heat ;)

From my experience as well is heat is not an issue... Great that people are searching for anything to do with NIXIE's... :woohoo:

My Nocrotec v600nt gets warm after the tubes have been burning brightly for a couple of hours. But not as warm as an old-style vacuum tube radio.
The tubes are working at 150 volts so some heat is expected. B)

Really? My v600 gets just slightly above room temperature. Interesting.
