Hello Community,

i'm very new to nixie tubes and bought the SNC46 for in-12 tubes.

Howerver, i took the preconstructed board, did the few soldering components and pluged it in.

All tubes light up and change the digit every 2(?) seconds.

Unfortunatly none of the tubes show digit 1&2, socket N1 doesnt show digit 1,2,3 AND somehow all tubes show permanently digits 7, 8 and 9.

Has anyone experienced a similar problem?

Thanks for any help,
Sascha

Before anything you should test the tubes further. Pull out all tubes, then test them one at a time by plugging into the 1-second position. You will probably find that one tube has 7-8-9 shorted together and is affecting all tubes due to the nature of multiplexed displays.

Im using the 4 digit variant, so there is no 'second' socket. All tubes show thes same behaviour if connectet to N4 (shows miniutes) without connecting any other sockets.

I just tied it with the socket N4 one tube at a time.
The N4 socket would be the 1 to 9 minute digit, sice i have the 4 tube variant.

All tubes show the same behaviour as mentioned in the inital post. Its highly unliky that all the tubes are faulty.

Okay, I agree that all tubes would not be faulty in the same way.

Next thing would be to very carefully inspect all pf your soldering, looking for solder bridges and also cold/fry joints.

Also verify that the K155ID1 chip is installed the right way around.

Is the display board connected to the clock board correctly? Do the RGB LEDs on the display board light up as expected?

If you want, you could post high quality pictures of both sides of both boards. There's a chance I could see something that is causing the problem.
