The pending approval stuff stops after 3 approved posts. You should be good now.

I have a working Modular in my hand. Assuming you insert the diodes such that their bodies are in the holes with the rings, then the stripe goes up. The white rings indicate where the bodies of parts go. The white diode symbols, also printed on the board, indicate the polarity of the diodes. So I think your diodes are probably backwards but a picture would help to confirm.

Look into it later when the dust is clearing off the crater.

Then my diodes are the wrong way :)

Ian: may i suggest for the next revision of the board that you put all "inline" components flat to the board, and mark them as they should lay, that would remove all doubt.

Yep, definitely backwards. At least it's an easy thing to fix!

Ok, turned around both diodes, and the led turnes on, and i get 5V between vcc and ground.
However, i dont get 8.3V between vin and cathode side of D1, there it is 0.000V.

The regulator stays cold.

I'm a bit confused by having 0V on D1,but still having 5V at the test point. I'm having to assume that the 0V reading is incorrect.

And just to check L1 is the littler of the two inductors, right?
