Ian wrote: OK, I blamed him unjustly: It was a different problem. The service runs on CloudFoundry and my Node.js version was no longer supported by the platform. I pushed an update and it is working again.

Just for future reference, the server I run are:

http://time-zone-server.scapp.io/getTime/Europe/Zurich

http://its.internet-box.ch/getTime/Europe/Zurich

Judge runs a compatible one at:

http://time.nixies.us/getTime/America/New_York

You can also run your own. The software is at:

https://github.com/isparkes/time-zone-server

Everything is up at the moment.

And PHP software at github.com/judge2005/timeserver

Hi Ian, thanks for your work.
I switched my nixie clock today after some time and it didn't synchronize.
Both time-zone-server.scapp.io and its.internet-box.ch
eem to be off I couldn't connect to them.
Only time.nixies.us seems to work.

I also tried to run it on my own raspberry (but I am really a beginner):

installed nodejs:
node -v
v0.10.29
npm -v
1.4.21

but when launching the timeserver it exits with error and log.txt contains:

/home/pi/time-zone-server/time-zone-service.js:9
let serverOffetmS = 1100;

What am i doing wrong?
Thanks
Roberto

You are correct about those time servers being down. This is an old thread and the server info is out of date. Better info in the "stickied" thread at:
www.tubeclockdb.com/forum/12-arduino-nix...rum/7828-time-server
Ian's time server is now at:
tzs.nixieclock.biz

Regarding running your own time server: I have one running here on a Raspberry Pi and it works fine. I am running much newer NodeJS release. If those version numbers you posted are accureate then you have a VERY old NodeJS. Here are my versions:

~$ node -v
v6.17.1

~$ npm -v
3.10.10

I vaguely remember reading somewhere (?) that the time server requires Node v6.x.x - nothing newer and nothing older.

Look into it later when the dust is clearing off the crater.
