Yes, they do sit kind of high off the board. The holes would need to be enlarged to make them sit lower - the socket pins have a step in them where the diameter increases that would fit in a larger hole.

Hmm... I think I'll have to offer socket pins as an option. I really don't like the Noval sockets and MillMax pins or something similar would be an alternative. The PCB layout will allow it pretty easily,

Yes I have. I'm just in the process of getting a quote for 10k of them!

I have in mind to use them for the DA-2000 and the IN-18 clocks.

Time to do something about this, I think...
