No much words, just look at the very first prototype.
The PCB is made with a lot of SMT parts, all these will be pre-assembled by the PCB manufacturer, so you only need to fit the "big sized" parts. Therefore assembling within one hour is not a problem at all.

The case has the same size and style as my headphone amplifier, so they become the really "Dreamteam"

Here are some pictures with different tubes:

The well know Russian 6E1P

A PM84 (4FG6) with 4V heater voltage

Really stunning and rare: LORENZ HM85 with 12V heater voltage (12DH7) (this is the side view version of the "breathing" EM71 from Michael Barile

And last but not least a true stereo tube: The Funkhaus EM83
As the electronic is made in full stereo you'll get with this tube a left / right channel display

Here is a nice video from the EM83

Easy selection of the heater voltages with a DIP switch
And if you do a mismatch, let's say inserting a 6V tube and the power supply is set to 19V?
A polyfuse (self resettable fuse) will be triggered, so your tube is safe and the heater will not burn.

And how can so many tubes be inserted without the need to solder adapter wires?
Have a look at the pictures below. You may understand the "trick". Look at the board socket direction and on the tube's pin direction

And as I told: No soldering required when changing the tube's type...

You want a Magic Eye VU-Meter and haven't any tubes?
Also no problem: Well stocked are 6E1P, EM800, EM83 and soon HM85.
And I forgot: The audio connection is made with 2 x 3,5mm (1/8") stereo jacks (both jacks are linked) and the ciruit has an automatic level control, so there's no need to adjust the signal for full scale display

So much better than I could have imagined. Way to go thinking about the bigger picture. With so many versions of Magic Eye tubes - Why not make a universal platform! Great work here

I think for your next trick you should do the same for the Russian Dekatrons

I think first I will do a slight upgrade when this batch of 100 pcs is sold.
I plan a second special tube board (or more versions) for the bigger top view Magic Eyes like the EM71 or 1629 or 6E5C. The next tube board can be for two Noval sockets to power 2 x EM81 / EM800 in a dual Magic Eye stereo configuration. This can be made very fast.
Some more wishes

Comming soon...
Upgrade board for "real" Magic Eye tubes;

Here the EM71 is connected to the circuity via wires and a ceramic socket with PCB solder pins (very rare)

The EM71 seems like the pinnacle of Magic Eye technology! Sure is a good looking tube.
