@ Ian can you tell me if the DDIN-18 is suitable for it?
other than changes to the footprint for the Z566M, would there be anything else to consider?
A question about the firmware of the DDIN-18 is there any progress with that?

Two general considerations:
You should follow the information in the datasheet. Typically any "smaller" Nixie tubes operate at 170V so that they reliably light up. The actual sustain voltage will most likely around 130V..135V, the ignition voltage will be around 140V..150V.
Here, you should also take a look into the datasheet. Once you know about the voltages you will most likely need to adjust the resistance values to meet the requirements according to the datasheet.
BTW, for my ZM1350 I needed different resistor values because of the different segment sizes. For classic Nixies typically one value fits all segments...

The HV generator is adjustable so the voltage should be fine. The rated cathode current is 4.5mA, which in direct drive will give 0.765W per digit. Over 6 digits that's a hefty 4.6W. We're near the limit of what a boost supply like that can handle, but to be honest it's not a lot more than the 4mA that an IN-18 wants. With an IRF640 (low Rds) and perhaps a heatsink it should work.

I have already looked at the data sheet of Dieter Wächter and found that the line data of the Z566M are almost equal to those of the IN-18 tube.
The power supply is on the PCB adjustable with a 5 kOhm potentiometer therefore no problem.

The Z566M tubes come from a Digital Multimeter V543 built in 1979 and were made in Poland by Meratronik.
I will make a board and then test if the IRF640 needs a heat sink or not.
