Hi, I have had a ian's all in one for a while now, I noticed a couple of days ago the blue led on the wifi module steady flashing about 2 times a second, so I unplugged the clock to see if it powered on a sorted the problem out but it did not,
I can connect to the clock and alter setting on wifi so I know the module is working, I am using the default time server url time-zone-server.scapp.io/getTime/Europe/Zurich , also tried changing to Europe/London, is the a problem with the time server if so what would be an alternative server address for a clock in the uk as I do not understand how to input the server in the correct format.
Thanks Mark

I just checked from here and found the timezone server is down, apparently for all time zones. I see 2 options:

1) Wait for Ian to fix his server (I have no access to it).

2) Install the very latest firmware on your WiFi module and clock board. The new firmware supports using an NTP time server of your choice rather than relying on Ian's tz database server.

Personally I'm going to take Option 1.

Look into it later when the dust is clearing off the crater.

I think I will go with option 1, i dont want to break anything with firmware updates.
Thanks for confirming the server is down.
Cheers Mark

Ooooohhh I know what happened here...

My oldest son (12) has discovered SSH and Linux, and he's been poking around on the Raspberry Pi that the time zone server runs on. I bet he rebooted it and didn't restart the time zone server service. Give me 5 mins.

OK, I blamed him unjustly: It was a different problem. The service runs on CloudFoundry and my Node.js version was no longer supported by the platform. I pushed an update and it is working again.

Just for future reference, the server I run are:

http://time-zone-server.scapp.io/getTime/Europe/Zurich

http://its.internet-box.ch/getTime/Europe/Zurich

Judge runs a compatible one at:

http://time.nixies.us/getTime/America/New_York

You can also run your own. The software is at:

https://github.com/isparkes/time-zone-server

Everything is up at the moment.

Yep, just confirming it's working from here. Thanks for listing the alternate open tz servers. I knew they existed but couldn't find the old posts where the URLs were given.

Look into it later when the dust is clearing off the crater.
