hopefully in a few days I will be a new owner of a Sixi Digit Arduino Nixie Clock Kit...cant wait for it!
The tubes are already here (IN12-. Sockets will be sent from Ukraine so this will take considerably
Since I dont want to order/buy 6x12 extra connectors only to replace them with the sockets later AND
because I want check the tubes for being OK as soon as possible...I have a question:
Would it harm the tubes or the electronic to connect one tube at a time to the wires of the seconds for example
only for the purpose to check the functionality of the tube?
Thank you very much in advance for any help!
from the point of view of the kit, it's not a problem. However, I do think you'll have problems getting the tubes in sockets (they are usually quite a tight fit) if you solder them. If you use a method for connecting without soldering, it should be fine.
thank you very much for your quick reply and for the good news!
And thanks for the hint about the "soldering vs. socket"-problem.
I didn't want to buy 12*6 connectors before I will get the real sockets
just only for the purpose of testing the tubes I ordered.
But as one single Nixie tube at the "seconds"-positon is no problem
for the kit it will no problem for me to buy 1*6 connectors only.
PS: With "connectors" I mean something to stick to the pins of the tube with
no soldering or much mechanical stress (sorry, I am not native speaker...)
