Just for fun I saw this and wasn't sure if the FOrum members have seen this setup. I at one time thought it would be fun to have a IN-2 built into my shift knob and display the gear I was in.

Is that yours?

Sadly, I have an automatic transmission so it wouldn't do me much good :D That is very cool, however.

Why not. You can still have glowing bulbs even with an automatic.

My truck still have a factory tach - an automatic.

I didn't see the buy now price. :)

My car is too rounded inside to have something like that fit nicely. I can't even replace the factory radio the way it is engineered. (I'm not kidding, I looked everywhere for kits...)

This is something I've wanted to do for a long time utilizing IN-12's & IN-17's... I'd love to know the circuitry to do a full compliment of automobile gauges... Speedo, Tachometer, Oil pressure, Fuel, Ammeter, etc... I've got the perfect vehicle to build around the instrumentation...

Any ideas...?

Doesn't the OBDII connector provide that? It is pretty much just a serial bus if I recall. There are even OBDII - Bluetooth kits on ebay for pretty cheap.

On the vehicle that I'd put this in it has no OBDII, it's a 1977 & I have no idea how to transform the info that the stock instrumentation receives and convert it to a NIXIE tube configuration...

The speedo would be mechanical, there is a feed from the electronic ignition for the tach, and the gauges are fed by various sending units...

I'm puzzled & at a loss on this...

P.S. - Is this something that Arduino would be partially suited for...?

I would imagine there are a few ways to get the job done. I can solder my way around anything but to create the device is beyond me at this time.

Check out this site for a Nixie speedo -
